bLUMEN : ( blume: German for 'flower'. | lumen: Latin for 'light'. )
bLUMEN is a public sculptural pavilion at the intersection of art, architecture and technology. Located in Homan Square, North Lawndale, Chicago, this project envisions the ways design can transform and activate sites into fertile ground for creativity, innovation, and social interaction. The grow lights that facilitate the plant-growth environment will illuminate the space from sunset to sunrise until the winter of 2018.
The bLUMEN Pavilion was designed and built as a collaboration with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Shapiro Center for Research and Collaboration, MAS Architects, and Luftwerk.
